When I purchased these 1930s Art Deco crystal beads from Etsy seller Fagin's Daughter ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/faginsdaughter ), I knew I had to keep them together and use them in a showstopping necklace. The fact that she sent them to me already arranged on a sterling wire with neatly wire-wrapped ends made the design fall into place, especially since they were not quite symmetrical, having an extra bead on one side of the graduated grouping.
Being a fan of both asymmetry and contrast, I decided to go organic with a hand-forged and hammered chain of round oxidized sterling links, roughly graduated from one side to the other, and finishing with a long, curvaceous hook that fastens at the taller side of the crystal collar. I couldn't be happier with the result, and I hope you are, too.
As these are vintage crystals that have come from previously worn jewelry, expect slight scratches and imperfections. The close-up photos show some of these (especially when zoomed), but not all imperfections are evident. They certainly don't affect the beauty of the crystals. As with any glass jewelry, they should be handled and stored with care.
The twenty-six faceted crystals range in size from 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The curve of crystals measures about 5 and 1/4 inches wide by 2 and 1/2 inches tall, with the total circumference of the necklace measuring approximately 20 inches.
